BOMB PROTECTION

“Unfortunately, we have already experienced a number of times the dual challenge of receiving and treating the wounded from missile attacks while being under fire ourselves. The fact that our hospital is effectively a bomb shelter provides our patients, their families, and our staff members alike with a real sense of security.”

Just 16 miles from the Gaza Strip, Assuta Ashdod is Israel’s first fully rocket-proof hospital, designed to withstand attack from missiles, atomic, biological and chemical weapons. Ashdod is on the front line for terror attacks, suffering multiple rocket hits in recent years. The hospital was built with a unique bomb-shelter design, enabling lifesaving work to continue uninterrupted, without the need for evacuating patients.

It is known that in Israel the home front is the battleground itself. Hospitals become fragile places if they are not protected. Immediate access to emergency and urgent care equipment is a crucial factor in securing and saving the lives of Israel’s wounded soldiers and citizens.
