Since October 7, Israel’s healthcare system has faced unprecedented strain.

Assuta Ashdod has become a national lifeline.

 

• Treated hundreds of wounded IDF soldiers and civilians

• Achieved a 96% life-saving rate for critically injured patients

• Operates Israel’s only fully fortified public hospital

• Built emergency underground hospitalization capacity within 24 hours during wartime

• Serves as a helicopter evacuation destination for patients who would not survive transfer

In response, Assuta Ashdod is establishing a state-of-the-art rehabilitation center in Southern Israel offering cutting-edge support for physical and emotional recovery. From wounded IDF soldiers to terror-affected civilians, from families torn apart by tragedy to children and teenagers grappling with trauma, this center will be a game changer for Southern Israel to those affected by the aftermath of the war.

Dozens of its physicians were ranked among Israel’s top specialists for 2024 by Dun’s 100 and Forbes Magazine. The hospital recruited hundreds of expert physicians, most from leading hospitals in central Israel.

 

Periphery

The hospital set a goal to bring Israel’s best physicians to work in the periphery and successfully recruited leading medical talent. The hospital provides advanced laboratory services and treatment availability using cutting-edge medical technology. An innovative Trauma Center, an advanced Emergency Medicine Center, one of Israel’s most advanced Heart Centers, and over 50 leading clinics and institutes provide high-quality care using state-of-the-art technologies. Assuta Ashdod received the Jerusalem Post Award twice: in 2018 for opening Israel’s first public hospital in 40 years, and again in May 2025 in New York in recognition of its contribution to Israel’s healthcare system.
